Done Deal: Just in LA Rams significant part signs top star for roster spot

He, son of former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Troy Edwards, has signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.Edwards had transferred to Kentucky earlier this year and filed a waiver in hopes of gaining an extra year of college eligibility. However, when the process dragged on, he opted to pursue a professional career instead.His father, Troy Edwards, played for the Steelers from 1999 to 2001 after being selected in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech. He spent seven seasons in the NFL overall.

Tru played most of his college football at Louisiana Tech, following a brief stint at Hawaii. After transferring to his father’s alma mater, he became a key contributor in the slot starting in 2023. In 2024, he had a breakout season, recording career highs with 84 catches for 986 yards and six touchdowns.At Louisiana Tech’s Pro Day, the 6-foot-1, 198-pound receiver clocked a 4.57-second 40-yard dash. He also showcased his athleticism with a 39.5-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot-7 broad jump, catching the attention of scouts.With Cooper Kupp released this offseason, Edwards could compete for a spot behind the Rams’ top two receivers, Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
