They’ll Have to See It for Themselves’ — Brandon Garrison Reveals Why Playing in Rupp Is Unre

Brandon Garrison may no longer wear the Kentucky uniform, but his bond with Big Blue Nation runs deep—and he’s passing that experience on to the next wave of Wildcats.

After transferring from Oklahoma State, Garrison spent the 2024–25 season as a key role player for Mark Pope’s first Kentucky squad, helping the Wildcats return to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2019. Though his numbers weren’t flashy—5.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game—his presence was felt on and off the court.

Now, as he moves on from the program, Garrison is taking time to guide Kentucky’s newest players, encouraging them to embrace the pressure and passion that comes with playing in Lexington.

“I’m telling them that BBN is going to show them nothing but love,” Garrison said during a recent media opportunity. “Even when we’re not playing as good, they’re still going to love you. When you’re playing great, they’re going to love you of course. I was just telling them about playing in Rupp [Arena]—it’s something that you’re never gonna forget. They’re just gonna have to see it for themselves like I did.”

While Garrison’s time at Kentucky lasted just one season, his impact—and now his advice—is proving valuable to a new-look roster. Kentucky brought in the No. 2 ranked transfer portal class this offseason, including:

Denzel Aberdeen (Florida)

Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama)

Jaland Lowe (Pittsburgh)

Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State)

Reece Potter (Miami OH)

Kam Williams (Tulane)

Coach Mark Pope previously praised Garrison for his high-level basketball IQ and development throughout the season.

“Brandon is fun—he’s sometimes wrong, but never in doubt. I love that about him,” Pope said last season. “His float game has extended to the free throw line, his three-point shot is becoming a real threat, and his decision-making is next level. He sees the game like a point guard.”

While Garrison may have moved on, his message is crystal clear: if you’re lucky enough to wear Kentucky blue, cherish every second—and be ready for the kind of support only BBN can give.
