McNeill suffered a torn ACL in a Week 15 matchup against the Buffalo Bills on December 15, 2024, during a collision while pursuing Josh Allen. The injury, requiring surgical repair, sidelined him for the Lions’ playoff run, demanding a rigorous five-month recovery involving physical therapy and strength training.
“I’m back with my brothers, feeling unstoppable,” McNeill said Tuesday. “OTAs have never felt this big. Missing the playoffs hurt, but I’m ready to disrupt offenses again.” He reported no setbacks in his rehab, which included mobility drills and targeted knee conditioning.
Before the injury, McNeill anchored Detroit’s defensive line, amassing 25 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in 14 games during 2024. His absence in the postseason strained the Lions’ run defense, despite efforts from DJ Reader and Levi Onwuzurike.
McNeill’s recovery showcased his resilience. “Sitting out was brutal,” he admitted. “My family and trainers kept me grounded.” His training clips, highlighting explosive agility, have electrified Lions Pride, eager for his return.
