Should the Hurricanes Move on from Rod Brind’Amour?

*Should the Hurricanes Move on from Rod Brind’Amour

The Carolina Hurricanes have been a regular-season powerhouse under Rod Brind’Amour, making the playoffs six straight years. But their playoff struggles—especially an 0-3 record in the Eastern Conference Finals and a 14-game ECF losing streak—raise tough questions.

Brind’Amour deserves credit for turning Carolina into a contender. His aggressive, possession-heavy system works in the regular season, but playoff opponents have repeatedly shut it down. The Canes’ offense disappears against elite defenses, and adjustments come too late.

While firing a Jack Adams-winning coach is risky, the Hurricanes have too much talent—Aho, Svechnikov, Slavin—to keep falling short. If they can’t break through next year, management may need a new voice to take the next step.

Brind’Amour’s culture-building is invaluable, but in the NHL, winning it all is the only goal. If Carolina can’t get over the hump soon, a change may be inevitable.
